Sprinkler Systems

Sprinkler systems differ from site to site, some merely wall wetting systems which are often not required to be monitored, other full multi zone drencher system with fire panel connectivity.

WHEN

(frequency of testing)

  • Monthly and Bi-Annually
  • Annually
  • 5 Yearly

WHAT

(is required to be tested or verified)

  • Signage and block diagrams
  • Spares
  • Valves
  • Alarm function
    • Interfaces and pressure switches
    • Alarm valves
    • Gong
    • Pressures
  • Auto Pump start
  • All monthly checks AND
  • Check condition of sprinkler heads and hangers (damage/corrosion/ debris etc)
  • Check for obstructed sprinkler heads
  • Service mechanical gong
  • Sprinkler system flow test
  • Overhaul all alarm valves

HOW

(What method is used)

  • Visual checks of all signage and spares
  • Checks of all valves, operation and locked position
  • Simulate a sprinkler head activation by dropping the pressure of the system at the
    test valve.
  • Ensure correct operation and record timing of all alarms and gong
  • Re-pressurise system and restore to service
  • Record system and supply pressures before and after simulated alarm
  • Visual inspection of the building sprinkler system
  • Clear strainer and lubricate gong
  • Perform flow test with calibrated measuring equipment to verify correct pressure and flow per sprinkler system design
  • Drain system, overhaul alarm valves including all replacing seals.
