Hose Reels

Hose Reels are intended to provide a first responder with water to fight small fires before they spread or can be used as part of a broader attack plan.

WHEN

(frequency of testing)

  • Bi-Annually
  • Annually

WHAT

(is required to be tested or verified)

  • Hose reel is
    • Not leaking
    • Not damaged
    • Accessible
    • Correctly wound and stowed
  • Signage is present, correct and
    visible
  • Water present and flowing correctly

HOW

(What method is used)

  • Pressurise the hose reel and unroll 5m of hose.
  • Test water presence and availability. Check for leaks at the stop valve, hose nozzle and
    reel spindle.
  • Re wind the hose and depressurise.
  • Ensure lockoff device and nozzle correctly interlocked.
  • Per bi-annual however the hose is to be fully unwound and correctly rewound onto the reel.
