WHAT
(is required to be tested or verified)
Signage and block diagrams
Free movement of valves
Check all Hydrant Landing valves
Check auto pump start
Installation is compliant to standard
All monthly checks AND
Flow test
Prove water presence at all hydrant valves
Verify systems interfaces working
Overhaul all landing valves and booster installation
Pressure test the system
HOW
(What method is used)
Visual checks of all signage
Operate all water supply valves (two full turns) and stop valves (eg floor isolation valves)
Inspect all landing valves are in good order, handwheel fitted, correct angles and clearances are met and fitted with forged NSW Stortz fittings and blanking caps.
Check the booster install for correct signage and block plans, all gauges and valves in good order
De-pressurise the system at the most hydraulically disadvantaged point to ensure that the remove start for the pump is operating
Perform a test of the hydrant system whilst flowing water at the prescribed rate and measure the residual system pressure is compliant with the AS2419.1 Standard for the building
All landing valves cracked to prove the presence of water
Verify that the depressurisation of the system triggers appropriate pressure switches and connected alarms or equipment
Drain system, replace all landing valves and their immediate coupling. Replace booster points and service isolation valves.
Boost the system pressure with a pumping appliance to 1.5 times the working pressure of the required design standard
Applicable Standards and codes: BCA Section E1.3 and AS2419.1
